Davina: ‘Big Brother still feels fresh’

Presumably in an effort to gain some Brownie points with her Big Brother bosses after suggesting the reality TV behemoth is heading for the dumper last month, the show’s presenter Davina McCall has told the Daily Star that she was hideously misquoted about BB’s demise and that the show “still feels fresh”.
“Let’s set the record straight once and for all,” boomed Davina. “I was misquoted. I said: ‘It’s contracted to Channel 4 until next year.’ I really hope ratings do well this year so they will renew the contract and then we’ll be back.
“And I will be doing it. I’ll do the show until I am grey. In my heart I am committed to Big Brother for the long term. If you have new people in it every time, I don’t see that it will ever get boring,” continued Davina. Hmmm…. That’s bad news for Big Brother haters – everybody knows she smothers L’Oreal all over her barnet once a month.
“This show is an innovator,” continued the 41-year-old presenter. “It doesn’t copy other programmes. It’s unique, it’s innovative and it’s interesting, and as long as it stays like that I don’t see why it can’t carry on. And if it carries on, I’m bloody doing it!”
Davina also appears to have ruled herself out of the running for the vacant job alongside Pip Schofield on This Morning, saying that the paltry wages on offer for filling Fern Britton’s shoes aren’t enough to prise her away from her kids in the morning. “I’ve worked very hard so that I don’t have to work very hard,” cooed Davina, confusingly.
Big Brother returns to Channel 4 on Thursday at 9pm. Excited? Of course you are!
